VTC, the US market leader in BHS design innovation, has been chosen to design a new Baggage Handling System for Southwest Airlines’ transfer baggage facility at DEN, utilizing Leonardo’s cross-belt sorter (MBHS – Multi-sorting Baggage Handling System).

The introduction of cross-belt sorter technology into the Baggage Handling System space marks a landmark change in the further adoption of alternative baggage technology solutions in the United States.

“VTC is once again demonstrating our unrivaled leadership in the BHS design industry by embracing intentional and elegant design with the end-user’s needs at the forefront”, said Chris Norton, CEO & President of VTC.

Leonardo’s cross-belt sorter (MBHS – Multi-sorting Baggage Handling System) is already a proven and reliable technology in Europe and offers enhanced accuracy, increased sorting speed, and improved scalability.   In the United States, this solution will enable significant improvements in operational efficiency, automatic precise sortation of transfer bags, reduced operator workload, and elimination of existing pain points.

A highly respected leader in the design and implementation of integrated airport security solutions, VTC invests significant resources in advanced technology research.  VTC is the only BHS design firm in the United States with its own Airport Integration Test Lab. The AITL provides a risk-free environment for the independent evaluation of BHS technologies, components, and integrated configurations to enhance our understanding of the functional and operational challenges that occur in complex, dynamic airport environments.
